Girivalam - Tiruvanamalai

I had just finished my lunch when Kamesh bhai, said hey sharon, are you comin to tiruvanamalai, i said yes and in no time we had already hit the road, after a quick pitstop at home to change clothes. Once we reached the Temple, we went in for a quick darshan and then began our walk around the saccred hill, this walk is very ancient and has its own sacred values and history. It is said to be very sacred when one walks around the hill on a full moon night. This walk is termed Girivalam. We started the walk around 9. pm, which we had to complete by 11.50 so that we could finish off before the Lunar eclipse was to set in.

As kamesh had predicted we covered about 6 kms in the first hour itself, 5 in the next hour and 3 in the next. By the time we did around 10 kms, i already had blisters in both the feets. I just continued walking chanting Om Namah Shivaya all the way.

Gagan had forgotten his HTC mobile at the end point where we had assembled. But then by god's grace once he rushed back to the spot he found his mobile.

We finished the walk as per schedule, once done we then left. Had tea on the way back and reached back home around 4.30 in the morning.

One amazing trip.

I was back in this temple after about 12 yrs, the best part was that i did this walk on a tuesday evening and the very coming sunday i was at the temple again. This time with Dad n Mom, while on our way to a marriage.
